    Description

    This is an 1880s cabinet card photograph of a family of five.  On the back the children are identified as Bertha, William and Baby Therese.  There is a lot more penciled writing, including what I think are instructions for a colored version of this photo.  The mom is wearing an unusual hat and the family looks calm and composed.  The photographer was Paul Kitzsteiner.  His studio is at the corner of Superior and Seneca, which I think is in San Francisco, California.  The back has some stains or soiling as well as lots of penciled notes.
